compare&contrast

ASSIGNMENT NAME

"The Fight" by Richard Wright and "The Confrontation" by Raymond Barrio compare and contrast in many ways. In both stories the characters had to endure a specific hardship. Even though the situations were similar, they where caused under different circumstances.

Both books are similar in many ways for instance, in "The Fight" the narrator explained how important it was to him to fit in with the other boys. He felt that if he didn't gain or fight for is respect he wouldn't be appreciated at school. In "The Confrontation" the story explains how Manuel was angry when his boss tried to take money from him and the other workers, after promising them he wouldn't. Manuel felt betrayed and refused to give back the money and this led to a confrontation between him and his boss. Although Both books experienced different confrontations they both ended with the main character standing up for themselves.

There where also many differences when it came to the characters. For instance the narrator in "The Fight" had went to school already knowing there was a chance he would get into a confrontation, while Manuel from "The Confrontation" was unaware of his own actions. Manual never stood up to his boss, his bosses made him feel inferior, and the narrator from "The Jungle" has stood up for him self plenty of times and felt that every one should respect him.

"The Fight" and "The Confrontation" are different when it comes to the characters in the stories. The stories only compare because both characters got into a confrontation and stood up for what they believed in.
